Andean Cloths

Traditional mestana cloth represents the rhythm of life and sacred creatures of the Andes. The wide blue stripes represent life-giving Pachamama, and the alternating rainbow stripes represent the balance of all things.

Bright traditional mestana cloth with motifs in the center panels feature the traditional Chili design, named for a red flower that grows in the Andean jungle  Touches of color bordering the central pattern, call to the mountain spirits or Apus. The wide black stripes represent life giving Pachamama. Finished with "eye" edges of brown, black, and white which is said to have protective qualities.

Touches of color bordering the central pattern, call to the mountain spirits or Apus. The two sides of the cloth are joined in the middle with alpaca stitched to represent the mayu or River of the Sky or Milky Way.
